Overview
The IPMB Early Career Symposium 2026 brings together outstanding early-career researchers and IPMB faculty to explore fundamental and applied questions in plant and microbial biology. Hosted by the Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology (IPMB), Academia Sinica, this symposium offers a vibrant platform for scientific exchange, presentation of cutting-edge research, and career development.
The program will feature invited talks from early-career researchers, IPMB faculty, and opportunities for interaction with faculty and peers. The symposium aims to highlight emerging talent and foster future collaborations within the global plant science community.
Dates: November 4–5, 2026
Location: Academia Sinica, Taipei, Taiwan (A134 & A133, Agricultural Technology Building)

The Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology (IPMB), Academia Sinica, is a leading research institute advancing fundamental and applied research in plant and microbial sciences. Eligibility
We welcome applications from local and international candidates, including:
Final-stage PhD students
Postdoctoral researchers
Applicants should demonstrate strong research potential and an interest in areas aligned with IPMB's research themes, as well as emerging and advanced technologies.
Support
Support
Participants selected for oral presentations will receive:
1. Travel support (economy airfare)
Asia: up to USD 1,000
Other regions: up to USD 2,000
2. Accommodation for 3 nights
Application
Applicants are required to submit:
1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
A summary of your academic background, research experience, publications, and other relevant achievements.
2. Project abstract (max. 250 words)
A concise summary of the research topic you will present at the symposium.
3. Research career goals statement (max. 500 words)
A brief statement describing your research interests, past research experiences, future career aspirations, and how participation in the symposium will support your scientific and professional development.
4. Letter of support from advisor (1 page)
A recommendation letter from your current advisor commenting on your research potential, achievements, and suitability for participating in the symposium.
Please note that symposium dates have been revised to November 4–5 (previously November 5–6) due to venue availability.
